David Acheson has had over twenty-seven years of experience as partner-in-charge, senior associate, project architect, and design architect for a wide range of hospitality, institutional, and residential projects. With Acheson Doyle Partners, Mr. Acheson is currently supervising the Master Plan for the Metropolitan Club, The Sherry-Netherland Hotel restoration, the renovation of a twelve-story historic condominium building in the Tribeca area of lower Manhattan, and various residential projects. Other recent projects include the interior restoration of downtown and midtown Manhattan high-rise hotels; including the renovation of hotel rooms, public spaces, lobbies, offices, building infrastructure and retail spaces. He has overseen the design and implementation of various art galleries and small museum projects in New York, and has managed the design of a $7 million hotel restoration project in Boston, Massachusetts. In addition to these projects, he is presently involved in the design of a number of single-family custom homes and apartment alteration projects, as well as exterior façade renovation and restoration projects. Mr. Acheson’s involvement encompasses landmark building design and construction administration with an emphasis on detailed quality control. Prior to founding Acheson Thornton Doyle Architects in 1985, Mr. Acheson had been with Ulrich Franzen & Associates Architects in New York. As Associate at that firm, he had extensive experience in office design and project coordination, including the implementation of the Champion International Headquarters Building in Stamford, Connecticut. In addition to his involvement in office building projects, Mr. Acheson had designed high-rise residential projects in New York City at Battery Park City, and a 50-story mixed-use apartment and retail center in midtown Manhattan. Mr. Acheson has had experience steering large-scale projects through the complexities of state and local regulatory processes during design and construction phases. David Acheson was a Teaching Fellow in Environmental Systems at Harvard University in 1975. Since then, he has served on numerous design juries, and he lectured at Columbia University School of Architecture in 1983 on the subject of the New York City waterfront. He is presently a Board Member and Treasurer of the Kathmandu Valley Preservation Trust, an organization that coordinates the historic restoration of medieval temples in the Kathmandu Valley in Nepal.
