Acheson Doyle Partners has provided ongoing master planning and architectural services for the Notre Dame School as part of a multi-phased, long-term renovation and rehabilitation of this private secondary school that relocated to a 1916 school building in New York City's Greenwich Village.

Laboratories, “smart” classrooms, locker facilities and an administrative center have been completed, as well as an art classroom, library, and meditation area.

Acheson Doyle Architects also worked closely with the school during the concept and development phase of the state-of-the-art chemistry and biology laboratories. While providing design solutions embraced by a science/research oriented donor, ADP coordinated planning to address and implement new regulations governing accessibility, acid waste safety precautions, New York State Regents requirements, and New York City Board of Education regulations. Two laboratories were set up:  one “wet” chemistry lab with a full complement of individual stations of electric, gas and water systems powered by data for each student, with readily accessible fume hoods that allow for advanced observations of chemistry experiments. The other science lab provides a multi-function room for the study of Biology, Physics and Earth Science, with access to the shared preparation area. The common preparation area functions as an economic and efficient addition to each laboratory. This space allows faculty members to prepare for their classes as well as serving as a carefully controlled storage area for chemicals as reagents and flammable liquids.
