Masterworks Arts Centre , Hamilton, Bermuda

Acheson Doyle Partners is working with the Bermuda Masterworks Foundation to design a world-class museum on the grounds of the Bermuda Botanical Garden.

The Masterworks Arts Centre’s collection will feature works of art depicting Bermuda, as well as works created by artists while visiting or living in Bermuda, including Winslow Homer, Charles Demuth, Albert Gleizes, and Georgia O’Keeffe.  The Masterworks Arts Centre will also exhibit work by Bermudian artists and current visiting artists.

The program includes retrofitting a historically sensitive out-building of an eighteenth century plantation house in the Prime Minister’s residential complex located in the Botanical Garden.

The building shall include state-of-the-art museum facilities including new galleries, the renovation of existing facilities, new support spaces, new conservation, storage and curatorial facilities, and the restoration of the historically important Arrowroot factory.

This $5M project is slated for completion in 2006.
