For Burning Tree Country Club in Greenwich, CT, Acheson Doyle Partners in a joint venture with Thomas Thornton Architects (ATD) completed the redevelopment of the club's 3-acre pool facility with associated parking and a master plan for the club's member and service facilities.
The pool facility redevelopment included the replacement of an existing pool and pool house with a new 8-lane competition pool for BTCC's award-winning swim team and a new pool house with locker room and a grille room with kitchen. In addition, a recreation pavilion for children's summer camp activities and a snack bar pavilion were located around the new pool and connected to the new pool house by a pergola.
ATD Joint Venture's design for the pool house and pool facility provided the client with an efficient, workable facility while meeting the Club's stated goal of providing a higher level of architectural quality for its facilities. The pool house and pool facility were designed in the Greenwich vernacular of residential estates in their scale, form and use of materials.
In addition to the design of the pool facility, ATD Joint Venture designed and obtained regulatory approval for the club's long-range redevelopment master plan, including the replacement of the pool facility and the main clubhouse, and the renovation of the existing golf and tennis pro shops.
Construction of the pool facility commenced at the close of swim season in the fall of 1999 and was completed for the beginning of swim season in the summer of 2000.
