Urban Master Plan & Historic Renovation, Patan, Nepal

Exhibition at Harvard

Patan Darbar Square

Michael Doyle began his involvement with the restoration and urban planning of Patan, Nepal in 1977 as a Research Fellow.

David C. Acheson and Michael F. Doyle are presently serving on the Board of Directors of the Kathmandu Valley Preservation Trust.

On behalf of ADP, Michael Doyle consulted on the detailed restoration of Patan Durbar Square, the 600-year-old historic center of this medieval city.

The first full building to be restored was the Mani Keshab Chowk (a former palace) that has since been designated the new Bronze Museum by the government of Nepal.  Mr. Doyle designed the installation in conjunction with local architects.

The Master Plan for the historic and urban restoration of Patan was exhibited in 1984 at the Carpenter Center for Visual Studies at Harvard University in an installation designed by Mr. Doyle.
