For the Metropolitan Club, designed by McKim, Mead & White, Acheson Doyle Partners was initially engaged to study the feasibility of building a new members' dining facility and an expanded inventory of guest suites on the roof level, as well as renovating the existing forty-five guest rooms.  In a detailed code and program analysis, it became clear that upgraded fire stairs and vertical transportation (both passenger and service) would also be required.

We have completed two phases of construction (summers only) that have brought the existing guest room floors and the "annex" building across the entry court into the company of other high-end suites in New York City.

The next phase of construction will involve the rooftop dining and an addition in a side yard to house new elevators, stair towers, and back-of-house storage facilities.

Acheson Doyle Partners is proud of shepherding the comprehensive proposal through the Community Board, Friends of the Upper East Side, and finally, (in one hearing) the Landmarks Commission of the City of New York, to the praise of all the commissioners present.

All construction work has been coordinated to be performed in a fully occupied building without disruption of the facility’s programs and services.
